  • 8 slices whole grain bread Cubed for a hearty base.
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Cooked and crumbled for a savory kick.

  • 6 large eggs The main ingredient that gives structure.
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard For a hint of tanginess.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds depth to the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances the savory taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To season the dish.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper For a touch of spice.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions For garnish and added freshness.

Instructions
 

  • Gather all the ingredients listed above.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Spread the cubed whole grain bread evenly across the bottom of the dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, crack the six large eggs. Add the cup of milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  • Add the cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage to the dish, sprinkle it evenly over the bread cubes, then add the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the entire dish, covering all the bread cubes, sausage, and cheese. Gently press down on the bread with a spatula.
  • Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Let it chill for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  • Let the casserole cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
