Sushi Rice

  • 1 pound cooked salmon, flaked The star ingredient that brings protein and flavor.
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise Adds creaminess to the salmon mixture.
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha Provides the spicy kick; adjust to your preference.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Adds a nutty flavor that enhances the dish.
  • 0.25 cup green onions, chopped For a fresh, crunchy element.
  • 1 sheet nori, cut into strips Adds a traditional sushi touch.
  • 1 avocado sliced Creamy and rich, it’s the perfect topping.
  • soy sauce For serving, it adds an extra layer of flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker or pot. If using a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, flake the cooked salmon into small pieces. Add mayonnaise, sriracha, and sesame oil. Mix until well combined. Fold in chopped green onions and adjust sriracha to taste.
  • Spread the prepared sushi rice evenly across the bottom of a baking dish, packing it down gently. Layer the spicy salmon mixture on top of the rice and spread evenly.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake the sushi bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
