  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and stir gently until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the packed brown sugar, hot water, and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon until well blended.
  • Pour the prepared batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Slowly pour the brown sugar mixture over the batter without stirring.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
