Ground Beef
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 4 cups frozen tater tots
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook it until it’s browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat.
Add the diced onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the cooked beef. Sauté these ingredients for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
Stir in the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and heavy cream. Bring this mixture to a simmer and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in 1/2 cup of the shredded Swiss cheese, dried thyme, and paprika until everything is well combined. Transfer this mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly, then arrange the frozen tater tots on top. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of Swiss cheese over the tater tots.
Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
