Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional
  • additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Mix the dry ingredients: flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla and peppermint extracts to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips and walnuts.
  • Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
