Ingredients
  

Puff Pastry

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a floured surface to smooth out creases.
  • Cut diagonal strips along both long sides of each rectangle, leaving about 3 inches in the center untouched.
  • In a bowl, combine diced strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Mix gently and let sit for a few minutes.
  • Spoon the strawberry mixture down the center of each rectangle. Fold the cut strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid.
  • Whisk together the egg and milk for the egg wash. Brush this mixture over the braided pastry.
  • Place the pastry on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the pastry cool for a few minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
