Shrimp

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic fresh garlic gives a robust flavor
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated adds a warm, spicy note
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for cooking the shrimp and vegetables
  • 2 cups cooked rice white or brown rice as a base
  • 1 cup broccoli florets adds color and crunch
  • 1 unit red bell pepper, sliced brings sweetness and vibrant color
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped adds a fresh, mild onion flavor
  • sesame seeds for garnish adds a nice finishing touch and a bit of crunch

Instructions
 

  • Ensure shrimp are peeled and deveined. Thaw if frozen and pat dry.
  • In a medium bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until well blended.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove from skillet.
  • In the same skillet, add broccoli and red bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Return shrimp to skillet and pour sauce over. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve over cooked rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
