Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced pepperoni or cooked sausage
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, low-fat cottage cheese, and the large egg. Add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt. Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  • In a separate bowl, mix shredded mozzarella cheese with diced pepperoni or cooked sausage.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into smaller rectangles, roughly 4x6 inches each. On one half, place a tablespoon of the cheese mixture and a tablespoon of your chosen filling.
  • Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving with marinara sauce for dipping.
