Equipment

  • 9x9-inch baking pan

Ingredients

Filling

  • 2 cups ripe pears peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for sweetening the filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for aroma

Crumble Topping

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats for texture
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour to bind the crumble
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed for sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder for fluffiness
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt to balance sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted for richness

Instructions

  • Prepare the pear filling by peeling, coring, and dicing the pears. Combine with lemon juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  • Make the crumble topping by mixing rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Assemble the bars by pressing half of the crumble mixture into a greased baking pan, spreading the pear filling on top, and sprinkling the remaining crumble over the filling.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before cutting.
