Beef

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast Ideal for slow cooking, becomes tender and flavorful.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Used for searing the beef.
  • 1 unit onion, sliced Provides sweetness and aroma.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adds fragrance and flavor.
  • 2 cups beef broth Base of the cooking liquid.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds tangy, umami flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Brings subtle earthiness.
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary Adds fragrant flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Adds heat and depth.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavors.
  • 4 unit hoagie rolls Perfect for holding the beef.
  • 8 slices provolone cheese Melts beautifully.

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients, slice onion, and mince garlic. Season beef with salt and pepper.
  • Plug in crockpot and set to low heat. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear beef in skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside. Cook onion for 3-4 minutes, then add garlic for 1 minute.
  • Transfer onion and garlic to crockpot. Place beef on top, pour broth and Worcestershire sauce, sprinkle thyme and rosemary. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes or high for 240 minutes.
  • Once beef is tender, shred with forks and mix back into juices. Slice hoagie rolls, fill with beef, and top with provolone cheese. Broil for a few minutes to melt cheese.
