Pasta

  • 8 ounces penne pasta This pasta shape holds the sauce well.
  • 1 pound ground beef Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Adds flavor and helps cook the onions and garlic.
  • 1 small onion, diced Provides a sweet and savory base for the dish.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds a wonderful aroma and depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Enhances the overall taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Essential for bringing out the flavors.
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper Adds a subtle kick.
  • 1 cup beef broth Adds moisture and richness to the sauce.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Makes the sauce creamy and indulgent.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a savory, cheesy flavor.
  • 1 cup frozen peas Adds a pop of color and sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients by measuring out the penne pasta, ground beef, and other components. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. After a few minutes, reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream. Stir well and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until it melts. Fold in the cooked penne pasta and frozen peas. Mix gently until the pasta is well coated in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the peas through.
  • Transfer the pasta to a serving dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
