  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for chewier cookies.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake the cookies for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
