Chicken Tikka Masala Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 ounces
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the chicken by combining yogurt, lemon juice, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Add chicken pieces and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes or overnight.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and fresh ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce, stir well, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve.

Notes

Marinating the chicken overnight enhances flavor. Adjust heat carefully to prevent burning.
