Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix these dry ingredients well to ensure even distribution. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the bowl. Stir the mixture until a dough begins to form. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 60 minutes.
  • While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing the shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced pepperoni, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning in a bowl.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air bubbles and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle the filling mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges tightly. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush this mixture over the top of the stromboli and cut a few slits in the top. Preheat your oven to 400°F and bake the stromboli for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
