Ingredients
  

Ground Beef

  • 1 pound ground beef provides a hearty base
  • 1 medium onion, diced adds sweetness and depth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced infuses the dish with aroma
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce ties all ingredients together
  • 16 ounces cheese tortellini main pasta component
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for gooey topping
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese adds creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning enhances flavor
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper adds a hint of spice
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese for savory finish
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • If using frozen tortellini, cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked beef, tortellini, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Allow the dish to rest for about 5 minutes before serving to help the layers set.
