Apple Filling
- 2 cups diced apples about 2 medium apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)
Prepare the apple filling by washing, peeling, and dicing the apples. Combine diced apples with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar in a medium bowl.
If making your own caramel sauce, combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved, then boil until golden brown. Remove from heat and add cream and butter, stirring until smooth.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture on the wide end, drizzle with caramel sauce, and sprinkle with pecans. Roll up tightly and pinch edges to seal.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place bombs seam-side down, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
