Pumpkin Filling

  • 1.5 cups pumpkin puree This is the star of the pie, providing that classic pumpkin flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Adds richness and creaminess to the filling.
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar This gives the pie a deep, caramel-like sweetness.
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar Balances the flavors and helps create the brûlée topping.
  • 3 large eggs These help bind the filling together and give it structure.
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon Adds a warm, sophisticated flavor that enhances the spices.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Provides a lovely aroma and depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon A classic spice that complements pumpkin beautifully.
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg Adds warmth and a hint of earthiness.
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger Offers a zesty kick that brightens the filling.
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt Enhances all the flavors in the pie.
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust Saves time and ensures a flaky base for your pie.
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar (for brûlée topping) This will create the crispy, caramelized layer on top.

Instructions

  • Prepare the pie crust by placing a pre-made crust in a 9-inch pie dish or making your own from scratch.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and eggs. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  • Add bourbon, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt. Whisk until fully incorporated.
